The Korea Exchange's new After Market recorded 1.8177 trillion won of turnover and 72.24 million shares on its Sept. 14, 2026 debut, accounting for 6.6% of KRX trading that day. The four-hour session, designed to let investors react to corporate and overseas-market developments after regular hours, covered 2,501 eligible KOSPI and KOSDAQ stocks and drew 93% of its trading from individual investors. KRX logged 1,637 volatility interruption triggers, more than four times the roughly 400 seen in a typical daytime session, as several smaller shares posted sharp swings. The debut matched rival Nextrade's after-hours turnover but highlighted a liquidity gap, with foreign investors accounting for 3.9% of activity and institutions 2.1%.
