Tesla is preparing an October 1 launch event for its long-delayed second-generation Roadster, nearly nine years after unveiling the prototype and initially targeting deliveries for 2020. The company posted "Go for launch" on X with an image showing four thruster-like flames and the date October 1, while investor Sawyer Merritt said reservation holders received invitations to an event in Waco, Texas, requiring RSVPs by September 16. Tesla has not specified the model, venue or event time in its own post, and its latest filings still list the Roadster in the design and development phase. The vehicle was originally promoted with 0-to-60-mph acceleration in 1.9 seconds, a top speed above 250 mph and 620 miles of range. Elon Musk has also discussed an optional SpaceX package with 10 cold-gas thrusters. Tesla shares fell nearly 2% in premarket trading despite the promotion, as retail sentiment on Stocktwits turned bearish and related post volume dropped 87% over the past month. Morgan Stanley raised its bull-case target to $840 but retained a $400 base-case target and Neutral rating, citing the potential of autonomous Tesla Semi trucks rather than the Roadster. Separately, Michael Burry said he is watching BYD after previously saying he would buy aggressively at HK$75 or below. BYD closed at HK$80.95 on Monday, above that level, after reaching a 52-week low of HK$71.40 in late June.
