CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. shares rose 3.86% in extended trading to $214.72 after CNBC host Jim Cramer amplified CEO George Kurtz’s call to treat the cybersecurity company as a must-buy stock. Kurtz warned that artificial intelligence has changed the basic unit of cyber risk from an individual hacker to an autonomous campaign, which he calls the "Agent-state." He argued that slowing frontier AI development would not secure systems already exposed to agentic threats, responding to Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s appeal for labs to "pace the frontier," backed by OpenAI chief Sam Altman and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. CrowdStrike’s response includes SafeMind, a system developed with Nvidia and introduced on Sept. 1 that learns from blocked attacks and deploys protections in a digital replica of an organization’s environment. The company is also rolling out an Agentic Identity Provider for cryptographically verifiable agent identities, short-lived access and end-to-end attribution. Kurtz said enterprise defenses should treat each AI agent as a privileged identity with strict permissions, time-limited credentials and a kill switch, while humans retain control of high-stakes decisions. The debate has exposed a wider governance gap: IBM found only 18% of organizations have a full inventory of their AI agents, while OutSystems found 12% have centralized governance. CrowdStrike’s shares remain up more than 74% year to date and more than 85% over the trailing 12 months despite a roughly 6% monthly pullback.
