Investors withdrew $19.23 million from BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) on September 11, the largest single-fund redemption that day among U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs. The broader category recorded about $13 million in net outflows, indicating that some competing funds attracted capital while IBIT saw redemptions. The withdrawal represented roughly 0.03% of IBIT’s assets, which exceeded $60.6 billion. IBIT’s fund mechanics require corresponding Bitcoin to be sold for cash when shareholders redeem, with the transactions flowing through Coinbase Prime, its custodian; the outflow does not mean BlackRock independently decided to sell. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $463 million in combined outflows across the four trading days from September 8 through September 11. Despite the short-term withdrawals, IBIT has accumulated roughly $64 billion in cumulative net inflows since launching in January 2024 and remains the category leader in inflows and assets. Its scale places it among the largest ETFs across asset classes, while changing Federal Reserve rate expectations, portfolio rebalancing and profit-taking have contributed to alternating inflow and outflow periods during 2026.
