LG Chem partners with Jianghuawei on China semiconductor-grade IPA supply

  • LG Chem and Jianghuawei signed an MOU covering ultra-high-purity IPA cooperation.
  • LG Chem produces 165,000 tons of C3-IPA annually at its Yeosu plant.
  • The partners are targeting Chinese manufacturers of AI processors and HBM.

LG Chem is building a China-based supply network for ultra-high-purity isopropyl alcohol (IPA), a semiconductor cleaning chemical, through a memorandum of understanding with Jianghuawei. LG Chem will provide propylene-based C3-IPA, while Jianghuawei, a Chinese specialty chemicals maker that produces and refines high-purity materials for semiconductor and display processes, will support local supply. The partnership targets advanced-chip manufacturers, including producers of artificial intelligence processors and high-bandwidth memory (HBM). LG Chem produces 165,000 tons of C3-IPA annually at its Yeosu plant in South Jeolla Province and is expanding supplies to domestic customers as well as North American and Asian markets. The arrangement is intended to move the company beyond raw-material exports toward a local finished-product supply chain in China, with cooperation also covering technical exchanges, information sharing and joint marketing. LG Chem said the partnership could strengthen its semiconductor-materials business and create new growth opportunities in global markets.
