Grayscale Investments is seeking to convert its Bitcoin Cash Trust into a spot exchange-traded fund (ETF holding the asset directly), according to an amended S-3 registration statement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on September 11. The vehicle would be renamed Grayscale Bitcoin Cash Trust ETF and listed on NYSE Arca under the BCHG ticker. The proposed conversion follows Grayscale's earlier moves involving its Litecoin Trust and Zcash products and relies on NYSE Arca's proposed Rule 8.201-E, a generic listing standard for commodity-based exchange-traded products. The plan remains subject to SEC approval, and the filing sets no timetable for the registration statement to become effective or for the listing. Grayscale said the trust has historically not met its investment objective, while its OTCQX shares have traded at premiums and discounts to the value of the Bitcoin Cash held, a gap the exchange-listed ETF is intended to narrow.
