POSCO International said its wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, POSCO International E&P USA, will raise 532.9 billion won ($396 million) through a rights offering to acquire U.S. shale gas assets. The company did not identify the assets or its transaction partner. The latest amount is slightly above the 532.8 billion won ($395.8 million) figure in the earlier disclosure, which covered 2,000 shares priced at 266.45 million won each and represented 6.82% of the parent’s consolidated equity of 7.8126 trillion won. POSCO International will subscribe for the entire offering, keeping its ownership unchanged. Separately, the parent will extend 266.1 billion won in loans to the U.S. subsidiary by March 15 next year and previously approved a 1.0523 trillion-won payment guarantee to support the subsidiary’s upstream acquisition and gas operations. The investment would expand POSCO International’s U.S. energy business beyond LNG procurement into onshore exploration and production.
