Cardano’s ADA remains 93.19% below its $3.09 all-time high, which CoinGecko said was reached five years and 11 days before its September 14, 2026 post. Trading at $0.21, the token would need a 1,371.43% rally to return to that peak. ADA reached its record on September 2, 2021, shortly before the Alonzo upgrade launched on September 12 as part of the Goguen development phase, adding native smart contract functionality through Plutus. Cardano has continued expanding its infrastructure despite the prolonged price gap. The network is moving into the Dijkstra era after rolling out governance features for ADA holders, has joined the official x402 codebase for machine-to-machine payments, and is preparing SundaeSwap’s v4 protocol for an October 1 mainnet launch. Ouroboros Leios, a planned scaling upgrade described as 96% ready for demonstrations, targets about 1,000 transactions per second and is expected on mainnet during 2026, subject to testing and technical validation. Cardano marks its network launch anniversary on September 23, commemorating the 2017 genesis block, and its development roadmap has included the Byron, Shelley, Goguen, Basho and Voltaire eras.
