Verizon shares rose 1.29% to $51.26 on Monday, gaining $0.65, after the company added nine technology firms to its 6G Innovation Forum. Amazon Web Services, Cisco, Intel, Keysight Technologies, MediaTek, NVIDIA, Palo Alto Networks, Rohde & Schwarz and VIAVI Solutions joined founding participants Ericsson, Samsung, Nokia, Meta and Qualcomm Technologies. The forum is developing an open 6G ecosystem through work on spectrum, capacity, edge computing, security, devices and compatibility with 3GPP standards. Verizon is also testing Integrated Sensing and Communication, or ISAC, using 5G Advanced to detect crowds, drones and vehicles while maintaining regular wireless services. A smart-glasses trial with Meta used edge computing to deliver sports statistics, scores and game probabilities through voice commands. Verizon plans further demonstrations involving robotics, digital twins, sensing and wearables, with Los Angeles serving as a major test hub before wider commercial 6G deployment. The company launched the forum on September 22, 2025, is targeting standards work around 2028 and has previously indicated commercial rollout around 2030, although global spectrum allocation remains unresolved.
