U.S. stocks opened lower on Sept. 14 as a broad semiconductor selloff followed calls by several U.S. artificial-intelligence company CEOs for slower technology development. A later market report put the Nasdaq Composite down 1.20%, the S&P 500 lower by 0.71% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average off 0.24%, differing from previously reported opening figures. Arm fell 9.55%, Lam Research lost 7.45%, SK Hynix declined 7.29% and Intel dropped more than 7%, as investors took profits in richly valued AI hardware and storage shares.
