US District Judge Mark Pittman dismissed the claims against Apple on September 14, 2026, after the plaintiffs voluntarily withdrew them; the settlement terms were not disclosed. OpenAI remains a defendant in the case, which alleges that its partnership with Apple unlawfully restricted competition in smartphone and generative-AI chatbot markets. The complaint, filed in August 2025, also accused Apple of using App Store practices affecting visibility and rankings to disadvantage rival AI products, including xAI’s Grok. Apple and OpenAI have denied wrongdoing.
