Cipher Digital Inc., Fluidstack Ltd. and Anthropic have committed a combined $10 million to repair and upgrade Colorado City's water system after shortages this summer. The companies will fund projects identified by city leaders, including additional storage capacity, aging valve replacements and other infrastructure needs, through the newly established Colorado City Water Infrastructure Foundation. The nonprofit is funded exclusively by the three companies and will coordinate with the Colorado City Council, Mayor Ruben Hurt, City Manager Donna Madrid and the city's contracted engineers. Colorado City has experienced chronic outages linked to aging infrastructure and severe weather; storm damage at its well pump station in July left residents without reliable water for days. The Barber Lake data center uses its own on-site water supply and does not draw from the city's system, while Cipher said the facility's water use will not affect local drinking-water sources or residential utility bills. Cipher Digital stock closed 7.21% lower at $15.64 in the latest regular session before rising 0.42% to $15.70 in early premarket trading. The project connects Cipher's expansion of industrial-scale data centers for high-performance computing workloads with direct funding for local public infrastructure. The companies' press release includes forward-looking statements about the foundation's activities, fund deployment, project benefits and Cipher's business objectives, while warning that results could change because of approvals, engineering, permitting, procurement, construction, costs, timing and other risks.
