SK Telecom (017670) has proposed an RCS (Rich Communication Services) standard requiring users to review and give final approval through messaging before AI agents complete reservations or payments. The company is hosting the GSMA RCS Group standardization meeting from Sept. 15 to 18 at SKT Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul, with 33 working-level representatives from 16 companies, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Vodafone, Orange, Apple, Google and Samsung Electronics. The meeting included the first special session devoted exclusively to AI, covering RCS integration with AI agents, reliability and user control, AI-assisted brand registration and spam countermeasures for business messaging. SK Telecom’s proposal would use RCS as a channel separate from the AI service, allowing users to verify approved businesses, inspect order details and payment amounts, and approve transactions without opening another app. Yoo Kyung-sang, head of SK Telecom's AI CIC, said the company would continue working with global operators to develop messaging as a channel connecting AI agents and users.
