Solana activated Transaction V1 on mainnet at epoch 1035 at approximately 01:04 UTC on September 15, increasing the maximum transaction size from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes. Developed by Anza under SIMD-0385, the new format lets developers combine more instructions and data into a single atomic transaction, supporting uses including zero-knowledge proofs, confidential transfers and complex multisignature arrangements. The change reorganizes transaction data so validators can identify priority-fee settings without parsing instruction lists. It increases capacity per transaction but does not raise Solana's transactions-per-second capacity. Solana's planned Q4 work includes further slot-time reductions, account-rent reductions and Alpenglow, a consensus redesign targeting 150-millisecond transaction finality.
