Robert Mitchnick, BlackRock’s Managing Director and global head of digital assets, will speak at the second annual Bitcoin Treasuries Conference on September 28 in New York City. Mitchnick has led BlackRock’s digital-assets business since 2018 and helped create the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT), which gives institutions a regulated vehicle for Bitcoin exposure. The closed-door event at SECOND, 849 6th Avenue in Manhattan, is capped at 300 attendees and is designed as a deal-making forum rather than a traditional crypto expo. Its 2025 inaugural edition contributed to a $1.4 billion acquisition involving approximately 11,000 BTC. Other speakers include Adam Back, CEO of Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company ($BSTR), Grant Cardone, Matt Cole of Strive and Ric Edelman. The agenda is expected to address custody frameworks, ETF exposure versus direct on-chain ownership, and the strategic implications of crypto-sector mergers and acquisitions. Direct on-chain ownership means holding assets through blockchain addresses rather than through an intermediary product; it can involve different tax treatment, custody flexibility and governance considerations.
