KT Cloud plans to build 1 gigawatt of artificial intelligence data center (AIDC) capacity by 2031 through a phased, region-specific expansion strategy. The company has confirmed 200 megawatts of capacity through 2029, with new facilities planned in Bucheon in 2027, Gunsan in 2028 and Ansan in 2029. It also plans to expand existing capital-region facilities into customer-focused clusters and develop large, expandable sites in the provinces. The roadmap includes more than 20 nationwide locations, connected through KT's ultra-low-latency backbone network, with liquid cooling, high-density power, AI-based operations, digital twins, robotics, modular construction and Open Compute Project standards supporting the infrastructure. KT Cloud is targeting global and domestic big tech firms, cloud service providers and neocloud operators, and said it recently became the first Korean company to provide direct-to-chip cooling for GPU servers to a global big tech client. Its broader AX Infrastructure Partner strategy also includes Composite AI and a Single Cloud Experience framework targeted for early 2027. Gyeongsangbuk-do separately plans to move 65.5% of its information systems to the cloud and establish a public-private AI hub.
