Samsung Asset Management is listing the KODEX U.S. AI Memory TOP2 Plus ETF, a concentrated fund focused on U.S. companies involved in AI memory and data storage. About 50% of the portfolio is allocated to Micron and SanDisk, major solid-state drive (SSD) players, while about 30% goes to hard disk drive (HDD) makers Seagate and Western Digital. The ETF also includes companies producing controllers, design intellectual property, storage platforms and data-storage servers. The fund reflects the company’s view that storage is becoming a new bottleneck as AI increases both the amount of data processed and the amount retained. SSDs provide speed for frequently accessed or rapidly written data, while HDDs provide high-capacity storage. Samsung Asset Management said Seagate and Western Digital control more than 80% of the global HDD market, and Han Dong-hoon, a manager at the firm, said the product concentrates on core AI memory and storage companies facing cumulative demand growth while also covering the related value chain.
