Kakao Games will acquire 16,828,508 shares, or a 39.56% stake, in KOSDAQ-listed Me2On for approximately 98 billion won ($71.9 million). The transaction, scheduled for Nov. 16, would make Kakao Games Me2On’s largest shareholder and give it management control. The deal is the first major acquisition under Kakao Games’ new management structure following last year’s change in its largest shareholder, as the company seeks to diversify beyond its core portfolio and increase overseas revenue. Me2On generated about 120.9 billion won in revenue and 12.6 billion won in operating profit last year, with overseas markets contributing more than 80% of sales. Kakao Games also plans to use Me2On’s publishing network and content assets, including Ghost Studio and its BoriChat AI character-chat platform, to pursue gaming and broader entertainment opportunities.
