Clearpool is building an institutional credit product native to the XRP Ledger that will use Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin to fund working-capital loans for fintech and payments companies. Cicada Partners will evaluate borrowers and manage credit risk, while Ripple will participate as a limited partner, supplying capital for RLUSD yield products and technical support. The product is being tested on XRPL’s Devnet and has not launched on the mainnet. Its infrastructure depends on proposed XLS-65 Single Asset Vault and XLS-66 Lending Protocol standards, which still require validator approval. Clearpool has originated more than $965 million in loans since 2021, while Cicada has more than $860 million of credit-underwriting experience. RLUSD launched in December 2024, has a market capitalization of roughly $2.37 billion, is supervised by the New York Department of Financial Services and is custodied by BNY. Clearpool also proposed a 1:1 migration from CPOOL to CLEAR, increasing total supply to 1.125 billion tokens and allocating 70% to existing holders.
