Broadcom shares ended Monday at $344.72, down 4.77%, as semiconductor stocks weakened after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei advocated a slower pace for AI model advancement. His comments drew support from OpenAI’s Sam Altman and entrepreneur Elon Musk, while the iShares Semiconductor ETF fell 5.6%. Broadcom CEO Hock Tan rejected any change to the company’s outlook, reaffirming projected AI semiconductor revenue of $115 billion in fiscal 2027 and $230 billion in fiscal 2028. Tan said inference (running AI models in products and services) should remain a durable source of demand and confirmed that Anthropic is projected to overtake Google as Broadcom’s largest custom chip client in fiscal 2027. Broadcom shares rose about 0.4% in after-hours trading after Tan’s CNBC interview. Mizuho analysts described the sector selloff as a buying opportunity, while TipRanks analysts retained a Strong Buy consensus with a $519.21 price target, implying approximately 51% upside from Monday’s close.
