GE Vernova shares fell 8.6% to close at $874.66 on Monday, sharply underperforming the S&P 500’s 0.5% decline and the Nasdaq Composite’s 0.6% retreat. The selloff followed concerns that a slower pace of frontier AI development could weaken demand for the power equipment used by data centers, as well as GLJ Research analyst Gordon Johnson’s initiation of coverage with a Sell rating and a $470 price target. Johnson forecasts 2027 EBITDA of $7.4 billion, below FactSet’s $9.5 billion consensus, and argues that turbine pricing for 2027 deliveries remains constrained by older contracts. Eaton and Vertiv also fell about 7.6%. Despite the bearish call, roughly 80% of analysts covering GE Vernova retain Buy ratings, with a consensus price target near $1,240.
