TotalEnergies is investing more than €100 million, roughly $115 million, in a three-year partnership with French AI company Mistral to develop proprietary models for oil and gas exploration and reservoir engineering. The joint scientific laboratory will combine TotalEnergies’ nearly 100 years of geoscience expertise and nearly 10 petaflops of subsurface data with Mistral’s agentic AI technology. The models are intended to generate development scenarios for exploration opportunities, optimize existing projects and extend their operating lives. The agreement builds on work that began in June 2025 across TotalEnergies’ broader multi-energy strategy, including low-carbon energy, emissions reduction and asset performance optimization. TotalEnergies said the partnership will support a European digital ecosystem while protecting strategic subsurface data and intellectual property. Shares were up 0.29% at $91.40 at publication Tuesday, outperforming broader U.S. equity indexes. The stock was 2.4% above its 20-day simple moving average of $89.62 and 12.8% above its 200-day average of $81.32, with momentum indicators remaining constructive.
