Altera has confidentially filed for a U.S. initial public offering with the Securities and Exchange Commission, potentially setting up a semiconductor-market debut that could raise more than $2 billion. The September 15, 2026 filing does not disclose the number of shares, pricing or timetable. Silver Lake holds a 51% controlling stake acquired for $4.46 billion at an $8.75 billion company valuation, while Intel retains 49%; earlier reporting dated that control transaction to April 2025, while the latest account places it in September 2025. Altera, founded in 1983 and acquired by Intel for about $16.7 billion in 2015, makes field-programmable gate arrays, or FPGAs, for data centers, telecom networks, industrial automation, aerospace and other applications. CEO Raghib Hussain has said revenue rose more than 20% in the prior year and projected mid-20% growth for 2026. Barclays, Citi, JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley are slated to manage the proposed offering.
