Churchill Capital Corp XI shares rose Tuesday after Agility Robotics unveiled Digit 5, a general-purpose humanoid designed to operate near people without the physical safety cages traditionally used for industrial robots. The proposed $2.5 billion merger between Churchill XI and Agility still requires shareholder approval, while Agility is preparing for a U.S. SPAC listing in the fourth quarter of 2026. Digit 5 builds on more than 65,000 hours of commercial operation by its predecessor, Digit 4, at customers including GXO, Schaeffler, Amazon and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada. Agility reported more than $300 million in multi-year Digit 5 customer orders as of May 2026, subject to contractual milestones. The robot uses proprietary artificial-intelligence algorithms, a multimodal sensor array, visual and auditory signals, NVIDIA’s IGX Thor hardware and Halos for Robotics safety software to detect people and select responses such as crouching, stopping or signaling. Digit 5 can repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, run for 90 minutes after a nine-minute charge, reach 7.2 feet and use swappable end-effectors. Early access is scheduled for the first half of 2027, with broader availability targeted by year-end 2027.
