GS Group is building a technology ecosystem for its artificial intelligence data-center business by linking startup technologies with the group’s capabilities across power, construction and infrastructure operations. GS Ventures held the 2026 GS Ventures Tech Day on the 15th at GS Tower in Seoul’s Gangnam district, where seven startups, including six backed by GS Ventures, presented technologies and discussed cooperation with group affiliates. The companies covered power and energy, semiconductors and memory, cooling, modular infrastructure and cloud computing. GS Chairman Huh Tae-soo said startup technologies could help address technical bottlenecks in AI data centers and that GS wanted to broaden cooperation with startups. The group is pursuing the business to meet rising demand for AI infrastructure and plans to complete a 1.2-gigawatt data center in Donghae, Gangwon Province, in stages starting in 2028, before adding another 1.2 gigawatts for total capacity of 2.4 gigawatts. GS said it will review technology validation and potential business applications through follow-up talks.
