Zcash coinholders overwhelmingly supported shortening block target spacing from 75 seconds to 25 seconds while retaining the network's scheduled halvings in a private governance poll for Network Upgrade 7, or NU7. Nearly 2.4 million ZEC, representing roughly 66% of eligible Ironwood balances, took part. The poll recorded about 99.9% support for faster blocks and 98.9% support for maintaining halvings rather than adopting a gradual issuance curve. Coinholders also favored beginning the reissuance of ZEC removed through the Network Sustainability Mechanism in February 2031 and proceeding with NU7 without components unfinished by September 30. The vote is advisory: consensus changes still require specifications, code, testing and ecosystem agreement before activation.
