Vietnamese and U.S. companies are expected to announce a series of agreements as Vietnam’s leader To Lam visits New York next week. An internal planning note lists 29 potential deals for September 23, including energy arrangements involving Murphy Oil, Chevron, ExxonMobil and Vietnamese state-linked companies. Vietjet is expected to announce leases for as many as 22 aircraft and a Starlink (satellite internet service) agreement covering 120 planes. The trip is also intended to advance trade talks with the United States, although a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump remains uncertain and the agreements may be non-binding.
