Chord Energy said a subsidiary agreed to sell its entire non-operated Marcellus position to POSCO International Corporation for gross consideration of $550 million. The assets comprise approximately 32,000 net acres and trailing 12-month production of about 121 MMcfpd, consisting entirely of residue gas with no NGLs. Chord expects the transaction to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary conditions; it has received a $55 million deposit, with the remaining consideration due at closing. Chord said the deal represents approximately six times estimated trailing 12-month Adjusted EBITDA at a $3.50/MMBtu Henry Hub price and should further reduce net leverage. POSCO expects the acquisition to generate more than 100 billion won ($72 million) in annual operating profit from 2028 and broaden its natural-gas business across production, LNG liquefaction and trading. After closing, Chord’s portfolio will be focused exclusively on the Williston Basin.
