Novo Nordisk and Anthropic are collaborating to accelerate medicine development by testing Claude Science in drug research and using Anthropic models to strengthen the Danish drugmaker's software-development capabilities. The September 16 announcement coincided with GenScript Biotech's agreement to provide wet-lab validation services for Eli Lilly's TuneLab platform and Anew Labs' $290 million first financing round at a $1.5 billion post-money valuation. The developments lifted Chinese innovative-drug, contract research organization and upstream laboratory-supply shares on September 17, underscoring investor focus on the experimental infrastructure required to validate AI-generated drug candidates. AI has yet to produce an approved drug, and its clearest near-term applications remain research automation, data analysis, clinical-study design and other efficiency-focused work.
