The Trump administration has cut, frozen or delayed up to $177 billion in federal grants since President Donald Trump began his second term, according to the Lost Funds tracker released Wednesday by the States United Democracy Center and Grant Witness. The disruptions affected all 50 states and the District of Columbia, with health, nutrition, environmental and disaster-relief programs accounting for the largest share. California, Texas, New York, Illinois and North Carolina recorded the highest amounts of interrupted funding. The groups said the total represents nearly 10% of federal discretionary spending and exceeds the scale of grant changes typically seen when administrations change. Lost Funds relies on data from USASpending.gov, an open federal spending database, and will be updated as new administration actions occur and related lawsuits advance. Courts have ruled against some of the administration's funding cuts, while the White House was asked for comment.
