Tether has provided Gold.com about $1.5 billion in financing, including approximately $1.45 billion in payables and advances owed at the end of June. The financing represented most of Gold.com's $1.7 billion in outstanding precious-metals leases, Bloomberg reported. Rather than a conventional cash loan, the arrangement allows Gold.com to access bullion without paying the full cost immediately, use it in trading and retail operations, and settle by returning gold of equivalent quantity and purity while paying a lease fee. Tether's Gold.com-linked balance rose from $360 million at the end of March. The relationship shows Tether expanding beyond issuing USDT and holding bullion into financing trading, storage and distribution across the gold market. Tether also issues Tether Gold (XAUT), a token designed to represent physical gold, and invested $150 million for roughly a 13% stake in Gold.com earlier in 2026. The arrangement gives Tether lease-fee income from gold reserves but increases its exposure to Gold.com and the precious-metals industry.
