VESSL AI has signed a memorandum of understanding with Neo AI Cloud to develop and operate the GPU platform for a large-scale artificial intelligence data center under construction in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea. The project, selected as the ninth initiative under the Regional Revitalization Investment Fund, has a total cost of 600 billion won (approximately $435.7 million), including a 4 billion won contribution from Gyeongsangbuk-do. The facility will be built at the Gwangmyeong General Industrial Complex in Pohang’s Nam-gu district, with a receiving capacity of 40 megawatts, and will use liquid cooling for high-density GPU servers. The cooperation covers Pohang AI Data Center Centers 1 and 2. Neo AI Cloud will manage design, construction, permitting, scheduling and foundational infrastructure, including power, cooling, communications, security and GPU infrastructure. VESSL AI will develop and operate the integrated GPU platform, manage resource allocation, monitoring and scheduling, and pursue domestic and international customers. Rather than adding the platform after construction, the companies plan to incorporate GPU operating conditions and customer requirements into design, technical specifications, construction timelines and operating procedures. The companies will also jointly propose and market services based on the facility.
