Salesforce Chief Executive Marc Benioff said AI companies must accept responsibility for risks created by their products, warning that artificial intelligence cannot become "social media 2.0." Speaking during Dreamforce in San Francisco, Benioff said companies and executives need an ethical foundation and that the people building AI code are best placed to prevent harm. His comments came as OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman, Anthropic Chief Executive Dario Amodei and Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang offered differing views on how quickly frontier AI should advance. Benioff said Salesforce uses a trust layer (controls that constrain and monitor AI behavior) around its models, while the company highlighted Agentforce tools, AIforce and a new model called Koa being developed with Nvidia. Stifel analyst J. Parker Lane said the participation of Huang, Amodei and Altman underscored Salesforce's open approach across model and user-interface layers, with data and context serving as its core advantage in the Agentic Era. Salesforce has benefited from investment gains and rising demand for AI offerings, but continues to face questions about AI's effect on its enterprise software model and per-seat pricing. Benioff said Salesforce employs more than 83,000 people and rejected concerns that AI would eliminate jobs.
