LG Group Chair Koo Kwang-mo urged executives to make artificial intelligence a core business standard and accelerate execution as the group refines its investment strategy for the AI era. About 40 executives from LG Corporation and major affiliates, including LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Innotek, LG Chem, LG Energy Solution and LG Uplus, met for roughly eight hours in Icheon, Gyeonggi, to review investment results and strategies. LG identified AI factories, physical AI, semiconductor materials and substrates, and AI transformation, or AX, as its main AI battlegrounds. Executives agreed that investment decisions should be supported by clear portfolio strategies, sharper scenario planning and verification as markets, competition and technology change. They also reaffirmed that AI initiatives should focus on improving people's quality of life rather than technology for its own sake. LG's quarterly executive meetings cover AX in March, research and development in June and investment strategy in September. Existing LG initiatives include a next-generation humanoid robot being developed with NVIDIA, a robot data factory using LG CNS's PhysicalWorks platform, AI data factories combining capabilities across affiliates, and expansion into AI-defined vehicles. Koo has identified AI, bio and cleantech as LG's future growth engines.
