Samsung Securities said on the 17th that it will begin selling issuance notes on Sept. 21 after being approved as South Korea’s eighth domestic issuer on the 9th. The short-term products, which have maturities of up to one year, may be issued only by securities firms designated as mega investment banks with capital of at least 4 trillion won. Promotional products will offer 5.5% annually on two- to 90-day notes for eligible newer or low-balance customers, capped at 1 million won per person, and 4.3% annually on one-year notes for comprehensive-account customers investing from 1 million won to 300 million won. The promotional allocations are limited to 10 billion won and 100 billion won and may close early. Regular products will offer rates ranging from 2.55% to 4.6%, depending on type and maturity. Asset-growth benefits will apply only to additional deposits used for net purchases, not funds raised by selling assets already held in an account.
