The ruling Democratic Party of Korea advanced confirmation hearing reports for Justice Minister nominee and Democratic Party Rep. Kim Seung-won and Defense Minister nominee Ret. Gen. Kang Shin-chul on Thursday despite opposition from People Power Party lawmakers. PPP lawmakers left the Legislation and Judiciary Committee 10 minutes after the meeting began, while the National Defense Committee separately adopted Kang’s report. The committee also adopted a report for Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister nominee Lee Hyoung-il.
