South Korea's Financial Services Commission approved five National Growth Fund projects with combined investment of approximately ₩1.0684 trillion ($771.4 million), including ₩349 billion ($252.0 million) from the Advanced Strategic Industries Fund. The Yawol Offshore Wind project will receive ₩130 billion ($93.9 million) in project finance loans toward its ₩757 billion ($546.6 million) development, a 104MW complex in waters near Yeonggwang County using 13 South Korean-made 8MW-class turbines developed by Doosan Enerbility. The project would mark the first commercial deployment of a large Korean-developed offshore wind turbine after demonstration at Yeonggwang in 2022. The other projects support DN Solutions' AI smart-machine-tool research center, Hwashin's EV battery-pack case lines, PKC's high-purity semiconductor chlorine-gas facilities and Conec's humanoid-robot structural-frame production. The fund approved or completed formation for 35 projects worth ₩18.9 trillion ($13.6 billion) from January through September, with non-metropolitan areas receiving 44.7% of approved funding. New Risk Management and Post-Management committees will begin full operations in October to review pre-investment risks and post-approval execution and recovery.
