AstraZeneca and Daiichi Sankyo said Enhertu has been approved for England’s National Health Service for patients with HER2-low metastatic breast cancer. The decision by NICE (England’s health-technology assessment body) expands access to a treatment already available in Scotland since 2023, while the companies seek access approvals from health bodies in Wales and Northern Ireland. About 1,000 women a year will be eligible in England. NICE’s recommendation follows 2022 trial data showing that Enhertu extended survival for some patients by about six months, after earlier funding was rejected on cost-effectiveness grounds. The drug’s UK list price is £1,455 ($1,950) per 100 mg vial.
