India has secured $12 billion in investment commitments from domestic and foreign companies, with projects scheduled for implementation over the next two to three years. Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said production capacity at facilities under construction is already fully booked, underscoring demand in the Indian semiconductor market. The commitments add to a $13.4 billion semiconductor fund launched in July and an earlier $10 billion subsidy program that supported projects involving Tata Group and Micron Technology. Micron Technology and India’s Murugappa Group have begun commercial production, while Tata Group signed five agreements, including cooperation with Nexperia on wafer manufacturing and testing. India aims to expand its semiconductor market from $38 billion in 2023 to more than $100 billion by 2030, although experts say it still faces a technological gap with established centers such as Taiwan, the Netherlands and Japan.
