JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said artificial intelligence should be governed through light-touch federal oversight rather than divergent state rules, while warning that cybersecurity threats, deepfakes and misuse of increasingly capable models require preparation and cooperation. His comments came after he compared unrestricted access to advanced AI models with giving ballistic missiles to individuals. JPMorgan has deployed AI across 450 to 1,000 internal use cases, including fraud detection and risk management, and spends $18 billion to $20 billion annually on technology. Dimon has said AI could raise productivity and advance faster than electricity or the internet, while the bank works with Anthropic, federal officials and other companies on frontier-model risks, cybersecurity and industry standards. JPMorgan also participated in a syndicate arranging a pre-IPO credit facility for Anthropic and joined its Mythos initiative, which later expanded to more than 100 organizations.
