Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas said Bitcoin ETFs could ultimately reach three times the assets of gold ETFs as younger investors accumulate wealth and adopt Bitcoin as a store of value. Bitcoin ETFs launched in 2024 after a decade of denials from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and have since recorded the most successful launch in the history of ETF products, managing nearly $100 billion, according to CoinGlass data. Balchunas said Bitcoin’s volatility would need to decline and its correlation with gold strengthen before large institutions treat it as a reliable store of value, a possible safe haven and an alternative asset. He also linked the outlook to renewed demand for non-yielding assets such as gold and Bitcoin as investors hedge against currency debasement and a weaker dollar.
