AVA, the token linked to Binance-backed travel platform Travala, surged as much as 112% intraday after South Korean exchange Bithumb launched an AVA/KRW trading pair. The token moved from about $0.155 to $0.329 before easing to around $0.27, leaving it roughly 72% higher over 24 hours. The new Bithumb market generated nearly $40 million in volume, compared with about $26 million for Binance’s AVA/USDT market over the same period. Futures activity added to the move: Binance AVA open interest (the value of outstanding futures positions) rose about 454% to $6.9 million, while short liquidations reached approximately $784,000, exceeding long liquidations of roughly $433,000. The AVA Foundation’s earlier buyback of nearly 370,000 tokens on September 15 had brought more than 13% of circulating supply under lock, potentially reducing the tokens available for sale. Whether the gain persists after Bithumb’s initial trading activity cools remains unresolved.
