XRP Ledger developers released xrpld version 3.4.0 on Sept. 16, introducing LendingProtocolV1_1 and fixCleanup3_4_0 while urging server operators to upgrade. The release adds performance improvements that pause online deletion when servers detect gaps in recent transaction history, along with optimizations for Multi-Purpose Token checks and protections against oversized messages, malformed peer data and resource-intensive database operations. LendingProtocolV1_1 proposes closed-ended vaults with defined subscription, investment and redemption periods, alongside cash-basis accounting that recognizes interest when borrowers make payments. Its underlying XLS-65 and XLS-66 lending components remain below activation thresholds. XRPL requires an amendment to receive more than 80% support from trusted validators continuously for two weeks before activation, so installing the software does not make either amendment active on mainnet. The release also bundles fixes for vaults, Automated Market Makers, Multi-Purpose Tokens, NFTs, escrow, signing, credentials and permissioned trading, modernizes dependencies and testing infrastructure, and moves Linux package distribution to XRPL Foundation infrastructure.
