SK hynix Inc. launched SK hynix Ventures, its corporate venture capital brand, to broaden strategic investment and technology partnerships across the global AI ecosystem. The company presented the initiative at its first SK hynix Ventures Day in Silicon Valley on Sept. 17, attended by CEO and President Kwak Noh-jung, senior executives, venture capital firms and startup representatives. The strategy expands beyond semiconductors and emerging technologies into AI computing, data centers, system software and optical interconnects, as rising AI model demands increase pressure on computing performance, memory capacity and data-center power efficiency. Since 2015, SK hynix has operated a corporate venture capital organization through its Americas unit, SKHYA, investing directly in startups across the U.S., China, Israel and Japan and committing capital to venture funds. The company said returns have exceeded twice cumulative investment, while portfolio relationships have supported joint equipment development, proof-of-concept projects, new supply chains and customer access. SKHY shares rose 1.97% in premarket trading to $186.60 after gaining 4.64% in the previous session.
