Hansol Paper completes Ecuador sewage infrastructure project after roughly nine years

  • Hansol Paper completed an environmental infrastructure project in Ecuador’s Santo Domingo region.
  • The project includes 40 kilometers of sewer lines and a 20,000-ton daily treatment facility.
  • Hansol Paper began construction in 2017 and completed the roughly nine-year project despite local challenges.

Hansol Paper (213500.KS) said on the 18th that it had completed an environmental infrastructure project in Ecuador’s Santo Domingo region, where inadequate sewage systems had allowed household wastewater to enter rivers and other waterways. The project was carried out through the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), a South Korean government policy fund supporting economic and social infrastructure in developing countries and economic cooperation with Korea. Since beginning work in 2017, Hansol Paper built 40 kilometers of sewer lines and a sewage treatment facility capable of handling 20,000 tons per day. Once operational, the facilities are expected to reduce river pollution and improve sewage treatment for about 190,000 residents. The company said it managed the roughly nine-year project with the client and related agencies despite the COVID-19 pandemic and changing local business conditions. The project adds to Hansol Paper’s environmental infrastructure portfolio in South Korea and overseas, including water, sewage, waste-to-biogas and sewer-network projects. A company official said Hansol Paper would continue expanding its environmental infrastructure business based on its accumulated technology and project experience.
