Micron Technology shares rose 1.23% to $989.50 in Friday premarket trading as Nasdaq futures gained 0.54% and semiconductor stocks strengthened. Investors are also assessing a Reuters report that China’s CXMT is preparing a NAND flash memory research and development production facility in Beijing, expanding beyond its traditional DRAM focus. NAND accounts for about 25% of Micron’s revenue, and the company holds roughly 15% of the global NAND market, behind Samsung, SK Hynix and Yangtze Memory Technologies. Counterpoint data showed DRAM revenue increased 57% sequentially in the second quarter, while NAND revenue rose 70%. Micron is building advanced memory facilities in Boise, Idaho, and Clay, New York, as NVIDIA and Advanced Micro Devices seek additional supply amid constrained availability. Its Sept. 30 earnings report is the next major scheduled catalyst. Analysts maintain a Buy consensus and a $1,521.74 average price target, while technical indicators remain broadly neutral-to-positive.
