Options traders increased bullish exposure across major technology names Thursday as markets recovered from the Federal Reserve’s first interest-rate increase since 2023. Intel options volume exceeded 1.3 million contracts, nearly triple the stock’s 30-day average, while buyer-initiated premium reached about $320 million, including $231 million in calls. Intel shares were at their highest level since July after rising 35% from their summer low. AMD options volume was nearly twice its average, with traders buying about 107,000 calls against 71,500 puts. A notable AMD spread involved 1,500 November 20 550-strike calls purchased for $8.3 million and an equal number of June 2027 750-strike calls sold for the same amount; AMD would need to rise above $615 before the November contracts expire for the trade to begin generating a return. CrowdStrike and SpaceX also recorded above-average activity. SpaceX options generated more than $1.5 billion in premium, although an estimated 60% came from several large sellers of downside protection. The S&P 500 gained more than 1%, while the Cboe Volatility Index fell more than two points to 15.4.
