Snap will begin shipping its standalone SPECS augmented-reality glasses in the United States, the United Kingdom and France in fall 2026 for $2,195, after years of supplying prototypes mainly to developers. Buyers can reserve the glasses with a $200 refundable deposit. The device uses dual Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, proprietary liquid-crystal-on-silicon displays and a 51-degree field of view, with battery life of about four hours. Snap is also promoting SPECS for enterprise workflows in retail, manufacturing and other settings requiring hands-free access to instructions, inventory data and 3D models. Its partners include Nvidia, Amazon Web Services, Salesforce and Shopify, with Salesforce’s Agentforce, Nvidia AI capabilities and Amazon’s voice-responsive assistant supporting the platform. The AR business has received more than $3.5 billion in investment over 12 years and is housed in Specs Inc., a subsidiary created in January 2026. Chief Executive Evan Spiegel has said mass consumer adoption is unlikely before the end of the decade, while Snap shares fell after the launch as investors weighed the costs and uncertain timing of demand. Snap is positioning shared, spatial experiences enhanced by AI as a differentiator from conventional smart glasses and immersive headsets.
