The New York Stock Exchange has conducted approximately 12 months of evaluation of Avalanche technology as its parent, Intercontinental Exchange, develops a platform for trading and settling tokenized American equities and exchange-traded funds. Ava Labs President Charley Cooper said the assessment covered Avalanche’s technical compatibility with NYSE’s existing infrastructure as well as Ava Labs’ business strategy and understanding of large-exchange requirements. ICE’s Head of Strategic Initiatives, Michael Blaugrund, said Avalanche met numerous evaluation criteria, but neither ICE nor NYSE has confirmed the network’s selection. The proposed platform would combine NYSE’s Pillar matching engine with blockchain-based post-trade infrastructure, support multiple networks for settlement and custody, and require regulatory clearance. ICE named tZERO a design partner in August, while the exchange group continues to assess blockchain providers. Cooper also discussed the possibility of weekday 24-hour trading for tokenized securities and referenced a Securities and Exchange Commission innovation exemption announced Thursday.
