Argentina has agreed to implement the OECD’s Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework and plans to automatically exchange crypto-asset transaction data with 77 jurisdictions by 2029. The information shared with international regulators will include user identities, fiat purchases and sales of crypto assets, digital-asset exchanges, crypto payments and transactions involving external addresses. Argentina will also receive information on related activity conducted abroad. The initiative is intended to combat tax evasion involving crypto assets and align oversight of crypto and fiat transactions. Argentina is expected to establish domestic rules by 2028 requiring virtual asset service providers to report the relevant data to tax authorities.
